KARACHI: The nation witnessed a rise of nearly 1% in its weekly inflation rate.
In accordance with the weekly report unveiled by the Statistics Institute, the inflation rate escalated by 0.93% in the previous week, leading to an overall annual inflation rate of 38.67%.
The inflation rate for individuals earning up to 17,000 per month stood at 38.27%, while those with monthly incomes ranging from 17,000 to 23,000 experienced a 41% inflation rate. In contrast, those earning 30,000 per month faced an inflation rate of 39.84%.
The report revealed that 22 essential items saw price hikes, while 11 items witnessed price decreases over the week. During this period, petroleum product prices surged by 26 rupees 2 paise.
Chicken prices saw an increase of Rs 31.26 per kg, garlic prices rose by Rs 24.01 per kg, and domestic LPG cylinders became more expensive by Rs 14.04.
Conversely, the price of tomatoes declined by 12 rupees 39 paisa per kg, and sugar prices dropped by 5 rupees 91 paisa per kg. Additionally, prices for items like potatoes, wheat flour, jaggery, and other goods also experienced slight decreases.
