Saudi Arabia: In a significant move to accommodate millions of pilgrims, the Saudi Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr. Abdul Latif Al-Sheikh, announced that Friday prayers will be permitted in all major and minor mosques of Makkah during the Hajj season.

This unprecedented step aims to alleviate transportation challenges for the pilgrims, ensuring a seamless experience to and from the Haram.

Traditionally, Friday prayers are exclusively held in Masjid Al-Haram, the Grand Mosque of Makkah, while other mosques nearby and smaller ones do not host this weekly congregational prayer. However, as part of this new initiative, Friday prayers will now be organized not only in Masjid Al-Haram but also in mosques situated away from its vicinity.

Dr. Abdul Latif Al-Sheikh emphasized the importance of this decision in facilitating the worship experience for the pilgrims. By allowing Friday prayers in all mosques across Makkah, the ministry aims to enhance accessibility and address the transportation concerns faced by the pilgrims during this sacred period.

The inclusion of small mosques in this arrangement ensures that all pilgrims, regardless of their proximity to Masjid Al-Haram, will have the opportunity to engage in Friday prayers. This initiative marks a significant step towards promoting inclusivity and ensuring that the spiritual needs of all pilgrims are met during their Hajj journey in Makkah.
