Syed Haider Shah takes charge as Pakistan’s new ambassador to the Netherlands

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s new ambassador to the Netherlands, Syed Haider Shah, has taken charge of his position.

Syed Haider Shah is the 23rd ambassador of Pakistan to the Netherlands. He started his service in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1995. He has also served in diplomatic roles in the United States, India, and Nepal.

In a talk with private media in the Netherlands, Syed Haider Shah said that every Pakistani is an ambassador for their country. He added that he represents Pakistan abroad and that every Pakistani should play a role in the country’s progress and well-being.

Syed Haider Shah praised the patriotism of overseas Pakistanis. He said he will work hard to restore PIA flights and address other issues.

Syed Haider Shah Bio: 

According to the Embassy of Pakistan website, Syed Haider Shah has been the Ambassador of Pakistan to Nepal since November 23, 2020.

His previous role was Acting High Commissioner at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, starting in April 2019. Before that, he was Deputy High Commissioner in New Delhi from March 2016.

Mr. Shah has worked on topics like the United Nations, legal matters, counter-terrorism, Afghanistan, and South Asia. From July 2013 to April 2014, he was Director for Afghanistan. He also served as Director for United Nations from 2006 to 2008.

Between 2008 and 2013, Mr. Shah worked as a Legal Officer at the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED) in New York.

From 2002 to 2006, he was part of the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the UN in New York, focusing on the Sixth Committee of the UN General Assembly.

At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad, he held roles such as Director in the Foreign Minister’s Office and Staff Officer to the Foreign Secretary and Minister of State for Foreign Affairs.
