PARACHINAR: In Parachinar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), at least 310 people were hospitalized after consuming food at a wedding.
According to a private TV channel report, the incident occurred in Shlozan, a suburb of Parachinar in Kurram district. The wedding celebration turned distressing when 310 individuals suddenly fell ill after eating the meal.
Most of the affected individuals were women and children. They were quickly taken to hospitals, where an emergency was declared. District Health Officer Dr. Qaiser Abbas stated that the affected people experienced vomiting and diarrhea, suggesting possible food poisoning.
The District Headquarters Hospital in Parachinar is using all available resources to manage the situation.
Assistant Commissioner Parachinar Imran Khalid said that timely medical assistance is being provided to the victims, and several children have been discharged after treatment.

Authorities have announced that a thorough investigation will be conducted to identify those responsible and prevent similar incidents in the future.
In a separate incident in Rawalpindi’s Jatli police station area, specifically in Dhong village, 139 people suffered food poisoning after eating at a wedding. A case has been registered following the incident. According to the report, the catering center’s owner and staff lacked medical fitness certificates and medical reports.
The case details state that 139 individuals were affected by food poisoning after consuming the wedding meal. Upon inspection, Umair Shafiq, who arranged the catering, found the catering center’s hygiene conditions to be poor, with scattered items and inadequate cleanliness.
The report further noted that the catering center’s owner and employees had neither undergone medical examinations nor possessed medical fitness certificates.
The lack of proper hygiene and careless handling of food items led to the food poisoning. Jatli police registered the case based on a complaint from a health department officer.
