LAHORE: In a press conference at Model Town, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Javed Latif has stated that his party is willing to agree on holding general elections after the incumbent government completes its term if the party is given a “level playing field”.
Amid rising political tensions and uncertainty surrounding the elections, Latif expressed that all political parties are eager for elections, but they must first ensure equal opportunities are given to all before holding polls this year.
The PML-N leadership has always accepted the court decisions and never indulged in politics of agitation, according to Latif. The PML-N supremo, Nawaz Sharif, had faced disqualification and judicial trials despite being innocent, but Latif emphasised that justice must be ensured for him, as he has served the country as prime minister thrice and contributed to the development and progress of the nation.
Latif went on to criticise Imran Khan for creating hurdles in the progress and development of the country and becoming a puppet of foreign elements who want to pressurise the national institutions for their own benefit. He said that PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s cypher conspiracy, attack on national institutions, instigating the institutions to violate the Constitution and law, the RTS malfunctioning to support Imran Khan, and the PTI government’s performance, which destroyed the national economy, should be investigated with the same parameters of justice as others.
The PML-N leader said that no sou moto was taken on PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s cypher conspiracy, attack on national institutions, instigating the institutions to violate the Constitution and law, the RTS malfunctioning to support Imran Khan, and the PTI government’s performance, which destroyed the national economy. He said that justice parameters should be the same for all, as no one should be dear to justice and above the law.
Latif added that foreign elements wanted to pressurise the national institutions just to benefit from the chaos and political instability caused by Khan in the country. He berated Khan, stating that the PTI chief had become a puppet of foreign elements as he always intended to destabilise the national institutions and create hurdles in the way to the development and progress of the country.
