Taylor Swift and actor Joe Alwyn have reportedly ended their six-year relationship, according to a source close to the couple. The news of their split came while Swift was on her sold-out Eras tour, where the actor was not seen.
The famously private couple has kept their relationship under wraps, with Alwyn and Swift deflecting engagement rumors. “If I had a pound for every time I think I’ve been told I’ve been engaged, then I’d have a lot of pound coins,” according to media reports. “I mean, the truth is, if the answer was yes, I wouldn’t say, and if the answer was no, I wouldn’t say,” he added.
The couple began dating in 2016, and their relationship was characterized as “mature and wonderful,” according to a source who spoke to People magazine. The couple even collaborated on music over the pandemic, culminating in a Grammy Awards win. Alwyn wrote several songs under the pseudonym William Bowery on Swift’s albums “Folklore” and “Evermore,” which won Album of the Year at the 2021 Grammy Awards.
Swift gave a shoutout to Alwyn in her acceptance speech, saying, “Joe is the first person that I play every single song that I write, and I had the best time writing songs with you in quarantine.” Alwyn is credited as a co-writer on several of Swift’s tracks.
The couple was last seen together during a vacation in Turks and Caicos in 2018. In August of the same year, they were seen holding hands during a public outing in London. Swift chose to attend the BAFTAs with Alwyn instead of the Grammys while filming the movie “Cats.” They were later seen partying with friends after the Oscars in February.
