ISLAMABAD: The Sindh government will officially take control of the Green Line and Orange Line BRT systems on March 10, 2025, as per the private tv report.

According to report, the Sindh Mass Transit Authority Board has approved taking over the Green Line and Orange Line BRT operations. The 14th meeting of the Sindh Mass Transit Authority Board was held, chaired by Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon.

Experts present at the meeting shared their suggestions for managing the Green Line and Orange Line BRT effectively. The board discussed sending documents related to the Green Line and Orange Line BRT agreements to the Law Department for legal review.

They also approved keeping the current human resources structure of the Green Line and Orange Line BRT for three months. Sharjeel Inam Memon said during the meeting that the Sindh government is committed to providing modern and quality travel facilities to the public.

He stated that taking over the Green Line and Orange Line BRT will improve the public transport system. The Sindh government will work to further develop these BRT systems.

He added that the government is bringing more reforms to the transport sector to provide fast, comfortable, and good travel options to the public. The Sindh government will use all necessary resources to make this system stronger and more effective.

Last year, reports said that the federal government would hand over the Green Line bus service project to the Sindh government in December.

The federal government had decided to transfer the Green Line bus service project to the Sindh government. It was stated that the Sindh government had completed preparations to take over its operations.

Sharjeel Memon said that the work to connect the Green and Orange Line projects would be finished before December 2024. He also said the Sindh government would review the federal government’s Rs 2 billion subsidy for the Green Line.  However, for some reasons, this matter faced delays.
