Additionally, NEPRA officers have secured ad-hoc relief for 2024, ranging from Rs 587,000 to Rs 650,000 per month. For 2023, they are eligible for ad-hoc relief of Rs 544,000 to Rs 600,000 per month.

Reports state that NEPRA officials will also receive house rent allowances. For 2022, this allowance is Rs 105,000 to Rs 116,000 per month. For 2021, it was Rs 70,000 to Rs 77,300 per month.

With these benefits, the total salary package for NEPRA officers has increased from Rs 2.95 million to Rs 3.25 million per month. This is higher than the salaries of judges in superior courts.

Sources say NEPRA officials made these changes without government approval. Most NEPRA members and the chairman are retired bureaucrats. Currently, the NEPRA chairman and two members from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan are retired bureaucrats.
