RAWALPINDI: The Government of Punjab has decided to introduce a special student travel card, according to a press release.
As per the press release, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif chaired a cabinet meeting where several decisions were made.
The cabinet approved free travel for differently-abled individuals and senior citizens on the mass transit system. It also approved a special student travel card. The Chief Minister directed officials to prepare a plan for launching a tram service.
The cabinet agreed to start a transport service for differently-abled people in Punjab. To promote industrial growth, the government approved the ‘Zero Time to Start Policy’ for Special Economic Zones and Industrial Estates. Investors will get immediate NOCs.
The cabinet approved Rs580 million for a “Cryoablation” machine, an advanced cancer treatment. The Chief Minister also directed the introduction of modern cancer treatments in Punjab.

Recruitment was approved for 5,960 constables and 127 staff members for the Mass Transit Authority. The cabinet also approved hiring for 87 posts in the Child Protection and Welfare Bureau.
To fill doctor shortages, the age limit for recruitment in Basic and Clinical Sciences was extended to 65 years. The cabinet approved hiring 25 staff members for the ICT of Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education and staff for Danish Schools in Tunsa and Mankera.
A supplementary grant was approved to hire staff for the Forest Department. The cabinet also decided to recruit 500 people under the Traffic Management Plan in Murree.
On the other hand, the Punjab government has also approved the distribution of 1,000 free tractors to wheat farmers. The provincial government approved Rs30 billion for the Nigahban Ramadan Package, benefiting 30 million people.
The Chief Minister announced that from next year, an ATM card would be introduced for the package. This will allow people to receive Rs10,000 at home without waiting in lines.
