KARACHI: The Sindh government has officially launched the Thar Desert Train Safari. The inaugural ceremony was held at Karachi Cantt Station, where Sindh’s Minister for Culture and Tourism, Syed Zulfiqar Ali Shah, inaugurated the train. He also joined the passengers for the first journey.
The train will travel from Karachi, passing through Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, and Chhor, before reaching its final destination at Parche Ji Veri. Speaking at the event, the minister said the train would promote tourism and send a positive message across Sindh.
He added that the Pakistan Peoples Party has always worked to promote culture. This project aims to showcase Sindh’s natural beauty, folk music, traditional crafts, and the unique lifestyle of Thar to the world.
The train has five coaches, including a dining car and a business-class coach. Passengers will explore tourist and cultural landmarks at different stations.
The journey will also offer passengers a chance to visit the scenic Thar Desert and areas near the Pak-India border at Khokhrapar. On the first trip, passengers will spend the night at the Parche Ji Veri Resort, where cultural activities are planned.
