Job facility for one family member of deceased govt employee withdrawn

ISLAMABAD: The government of Pakistan has withdrawn the job facility for one family member of a government employee who dies during service under the Prime Minister’s Assistance Package. The Establishment Division issued a formal office memorandum.

As per the Private tv channel report, the Establishment Division has directed all ministries and divisions to implement the new decision.

According to the notification, this facility has been withdrawn based on the Supreme Court’s decision on October 18, 2024. The decision will be effective from the same date.

Other benefits and facilities under the Prime Minister’s Assistance Package for civil servants who pass away during service will continue as before.

The Establishment Division clarified that the decision does not apply to the families of law enforcement personnel who lose their lives in terrorist incidents.

It also stated that the decision will not affect appointments made before the Supreme Court’s decision.

On the other hand, the KP government has officially abolished the quota system for giving jobs to the children of deceased government employees in the department.

According to reports, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial government has abolished the clause in the revised policy that had been in force for giving jobs to the children of government employees who died while in service.

Reports say that in addition to government employees who died while in service, the provincial government has also abolished the special quota for the children of disabled government employees.
