ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Market Committee has issued the latest price list for vegetables, fruits, and other essential food items for today (31-01-2025), reflecting the most recent market rates as of Friday, 31 January 2025.
The price list includes key kitchen staples like tomatoes, potatoes, onions, garlic, and ginger, categorized into two quality grades—Grade 1 and Grade 2.
Over the past few weeks, the prices of tomatoes, cabbage, and cauliflower have significantly decreased, providing much-needed relief to consumers. Additionally, items such as carrots, potatoes, and ginger are currently available at highly affordable prices, offering further ease for households.
The price of chicken has also dropped from yesterday’s rate of PKR 425 per kilogram to PKR 405, offering further relief to consumers. Similarly, the price of eggs has decreased from PKR 240 per dozen to PKR 221 per dozen. The primary reason for the decline in egg prices is the seasonal change, as February approaches and the peak winter coldness of December and January subsides. This has led to a reduction in demand for eggs, contributing to the price drop.
To maintain transparency and ensure fair pricing, the price list is updated daily. Consumers are advised to verify the official rates before making purchases to avoid being overcharged. Any incidents of overpricing or discrepancies should be reported to the relevant authorities for prompt action.
Meanwhile, kinnow is now fully ripened and widely available in the market. Grade A kinnow is priced between PKR 330 and 360 per dozen. In some supermarkets and regions, it is sold by weight (kilogram), while in others, it is sold by the dozen. Smaller-sized and average-quality kinnows are available at lower prices, catering to a wide range of consumer preferences.

Today’s Official Price List for Chicken and Eggs in Islamabad – Friday, 31 January 2025:
The official retail prices for live chicken (Zinda Murghi) and eggs have been announced by the Islamabad Market Committee, effective Friday, 31 January 2025.
As per the updated rates, live chicken (Zinda Murghi) has decreased from yesterday’s rate of Rs. 425 per kilogram to Rs. 405 per kilogram. Similarly, eggs have dropped from Rs. 240 per dozen to Rs. 221 per dozen.
The main reason for the decrease in egg prices is the seasonal transition as February approaches. With the pleasant weather replacing the peak winter coldness of December and January, the demand for eggs—often consumed more during the colder months—has started to decline gradually.
Additionally, maintaining the quality of eggs during the changing weather is challenging, as the warmer conditions increase the risk of spoilage. Long-term storage becomes costlier for farmers and wholesalers, prompting them to sell eggs quickly to avoid losses.
These prices are applicable citywide to ensure fair pricing for consumers.
Item | Price |
---|---|
Chicken | Rs 405 per kg |
Eggs | Rs 221 per dozen |
