KARACHI: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced that it will install automated service machines at important locations in the city for identity card-related services in Karachi.
These machines will be installed at NADRA mega centers, railway stations, airports, procurement centers, educational institutions, and government offices, so that citizens can have easy access to identity card services.
After a successful trial in Islamabad, NADRA is installing these modern kiosks in different areas of Karachi to address the problem of long queues at NADRA centers. These machines will facilitate the processes of identity card renewal, restoration of missing cards, and application for a child registration certificate (Form B).
Citizens will be able to enter their basic information using these machines, get biometric verification done, and also take pictures. Additionally, they will be able to choose either urgent or normal processing. After the application is completed, the machine will generate a QR code through which fees can be paid via EasyPaisa, JazzCash, or credit/debit cards.
According to NADRA officials, this service will first be launched at NADRA Mega Centers in Karachi, and its scope will later be extended to other public places.
According to officials, the entire process will be automated, which will increase efficiency and convenience. Identity cards will be provided within 15 to 30 days of the completion of the application. This new system will save time.
