ISLAMABAD: Police have arrested a human rights lawyer Imaan Mazari and her husband in the federal capital, private Tv channel reported on Monday, citing sources.
The sources added that Imaan Mazari and her husband, Abdul Hadi, have been arrested in a case registered at Aabpara Police Station Islamabad concerning interference in government operations.
The arrest of Imaan Mazari, the daughter of former federal minister and PTI leader Shireen Mazari, comes days after she and her husband engaged in a scuffle with police following their attempt to remove the road blockades placed for the visiting England cricket team’s traffic protocol.
The incident occurred near Islamabad Zero Point Interchange in the morning when the cricket teams were being transported to the Rawalpindi stadium.
Mazari’s husband thrashed policemen, abused them and threatened them with dire consequences, the report added.
While Imaan Mazari claimed that she was in a hurry as she had to reach court, police said that the couple had violated the standard operating procedures (SOPs) of state guests .
