ISLAMABAD: The prices of ghee and cooking oil have increased by Rs 20 to Rs 80 per kg across Pakistan.
According to media reports, the price of branded ghee has risen from Rs 370 to Rs 450 per kg, while the price of cooking oil has gone up from Rs 440 to Rs 530 per kg.
The report states that the price of palm oil in the global market has increased from 900 dollars to 1,200 dollars per ton.
Chairman of the Vanaspati Manufacturers Association, Umar Rehan Sheikh, says that the price of palm oil has risen by 300 dollars per ton in the international market.
It has been reported that following this increase in the international market, prices have continued to rise across the country. The government has been asked to reduce taxes to provide relief to consumers.

He mentioned that the government is charging a tax of Rs 100 per kg on oil and ghee. In a meeting with the finance minister, he appealed to reduce the tax on these products. Pakistan imports 3.2 million tons of palm oil annually, with a demand of 4.5 million tons.
Meanwhile, in Lahore, the price of chicken meat decreased by Rs 36 over the past two days, while the price of eggs increased further. In the last four days, the price of chicken meat has dropped by Rs 44 per kg, with an additional decrease of Rs 18 per kg today.
According to the official price list, the price of chicken meat has reached Rs 533 per kg, and the price of live broiler chicken has also decreased significantly.
