RAWALPINDI: Sir Syed Express train from Rawalpindi to Karachi has been inaugurated, the first train has left for Karachi and will reach its destination after 24 hours.
According to a report by the TV channel, the Sir Syed Express train from Rawalpindi to Karachi was inaugurated by DS Railway Nooruddin Dawar.
The first train left for Karachi, which will reach its destination after 24 hours. The Sir Syed Express, consisting of 16 coaches, will travel from Rawalpindi to Karachi via Jhelum, Gujarat, Wazirabad, Sangla Hill, Faisalabad, Khanewal, Rohri, and Hyderabad. The train is operated under a Public-Private Partnership.
There is a decision to restore the Sir Syed Express running between Rawalpindi and Karachi.
According to railway authorities, the train includes one AC sleeper, three AC business class coaches, one standard class coach, and eight economy coaches.
A dining car is also part of the train. A private company will provide food on the train, and special arrangements have been made to ensure water supply and sanitation.
Railway officials says that a free Wi-Fi facility will also be available for passengers, train ticket payments can be made through mobile applications while sitting at home. Pakistan Railways is expected to earn about 3 billion rupees annually from the Sir Syed Express.
CEO Railways Aamir Baloch stated that self-reliance will be achieved through the public-private partnership, revenue will increase, and there is a plan to run ten more trains under the public-private partnership next month.
