RAWALPINDI: Unknown persons opened fire on a school van in Attock’s Dheri Kot village area, Punjab, resulting in the death of two children and injuries to four others, including the driver.
As per media report, Rescue 1122 officials said that teams shifted the injured and the deceased to the hospital. The ages of the affected children range between 10 and 12 years. The rescue personnel stated that the accused fled after the shooting.
According to police officials, the team has reached the scene and begun an investigation after collecting evidence. The area has also been cordoned off.
Regional Police Officer Rawalpindi Babar Sarfraz Alpa said that the incident in Attock was due to personal enmity. The shooting targeted the driver, but children were also injured. The accused have been identified, and raids are being conducted to arrest them. They will be apprehended soon.
Later, President Asif Ali Zardari strongly condemned the school van shooting in Attock, stating that targeting innocent children is a cruel and shameful act. He called for strict action against those responsible. He also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured children.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz took notice of the shooting on the school van in Attock and requested a report from the Commissioner of Rawalpindi.
Maryam Nawaz expressed deep grief over the death of two students and issued instructions to provide the best treatment facilities to those injured in the incident.
