Following an alleged paper leak of the Cambridge International Education’s AS Level, the CIE has cautioned about counterfeit posts circulating on social media platforms and WhatsApp groups masquerading as official statements.

In a Facebook post on Saturday, the CIE stated, “Official updates and information are only disseminated through our official Facebook page and official communication channels with schools, directly or through British Council.” They urged vigilance regarding the authenticity of messages from other sources.

Students previously asserted on social media, particularly Facebook groups, that the “AS Level Mathematics Paper” had been leaked online just before their scheduled exam on April 2.

They expressed distress over the social media buzz surrounding the exam, fearing potential cancellation and adverse effects on their grades. They lamented the leak, deeming it reprehensible given their diligent preparation for the tests.

In response to the online uproar and allegations, the CIE initiated an inquiry into the AS paper leak. “We are investigating concerns raised about a potential paper leakage on May 2, 2024, for AS Level Mathematics 9709 Paper 12. This matter is under investigation, with close coordination between Cambridge and the British Council,” the CIE stated.

Cambridge assured updates on the issue as soon as more information becomes available, stipulating that further details would not be provided through Facebook comments or direct messages. “Thank you for your understanding and support,” they added.

The CIE affirmed, “Cambridge and the British Council are dedicated to upholding the integrity and fairness of our exams, and we will continue to collaborate closely with schools to ensure a secure examination experience for all candidates.”

While the confirmation of a paper leak remains pending, sources from the CIE and British Council express optimism that the investigation will conclude within a week or two.
