KARACHI: The Sindh government announced on Friday, May 1, 2024, as a public holiday in the province for Labour Day.
A notification issued by the Chief Secretary of Sindh confirmed that all government offices, autonomous bodies, semi-autonomous bodies, corporations, and local councils under the administrative control of the Sindh government will observe the holiday, except for essential services.

The federal government has not yet declared this year’s holiday, and people are awaiting an official announcement.
The Cabinet Division circular for this year designates May 1 as a public holiday, with Punjab and other regions expected to follow suit by formally declaring holidays in schools and offices in the coming days.
Pakistan’s central bank is also anticipated to declare May 1 as a bank holiday. International Labor Day, celebrated worldwide on May 1st, is a day dedicated to acknowledging the contributions of workers and advocating for their rights.
