ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Iran on Monday agreed to strengthen trade ties and encourage business activities at the border areas to help both countries grow.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, speaking with President of Iran Dr. Ebrahim Raisi after watching them sign agreements at the PM House, said he was hopeful that with the Iranian President’s leadership, both countries could improve and prosper by making their borders busy with business.

He mentioned that during their meeting, they talked about lots of things they both care about, like money, trading, investing, being friends with other countries, being safe, and the stuff people like.

President Raisi, who started a three-day visit to Pakistan with a big group, said the amount of trading between the two countries now wasn’t as much as it could be, and he wanted to make it bigger, up to US$10 billion every year within five years. He said they should make the border markets better so more business can happen there, and also keep things safe.

President Dr. Raisi talked about how Iran and Pakistan are a lot alike and promised they’d keep working together to improve how they trade and make money.

He said it was really important to make their friendship stronger and keep helping each other out.
President Raisi also talked about how Iran knows a lot about science and tech and is happy to share what they know with Pakistan.

President Ebrahim Raisi said hi from Iran to Pakistan and mentioned how Iran always tries to help people who are treated badly, especially in Gaza, and defends their religion and a special place called Quds Al-Sharif.

He said he feels bad for the people in Palestine and thinks the big groups like the UN aren’t doing their job right.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised Iran for helping the Muslims in Gaza and said it was terrible how they were being treated. He said Pakistan will always support the people in Gaza who are being treated badly.

He was upset that the UN rules about Palestine were being ignored and said lots of people in Palestine have been killed.

He said they should keep talking about the problems in Gaza at big meetings like the one with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) until things get better.

Prime Minister Sharif also talked about how tough things are for the people in Kashmir and said he believes one day they’ll be free.

He said thanks to President Raisi for coming to Pakistan and mentioned he was the first leader from another country to do so after the elections in February 2024.

He said Iran and Pakistan have been friends for a long time and should keep being good friends and helping each other out.

He said their friendship is special because they have a lot in common, like the same religion and culture, and they should make it even better so they can both be happy and successful.
