ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to install 3,100 more surveillance cameras across Islamabad to expand the Safe City system and improve security in the capital.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi made the announcement during a visit to the Safe City Headquarters. He also inaugurated the new Online Women Police Station and launched the “One Info App.”
The minister praised Islamabad Inspector General (IG) Ali Nasir Rizvi’s efforts and reviewed the city’s digital monitoring wall. He said the One Info App will allow the public to register emergency complaints and stressed the need to fully activate online platforms to provide faster assistance, especially to women and vulnerable groups.
Naqvi said these initiatives reflect the government’s focus on using modern technology for better policing.
Chairing a high-level meeting at the headquarters, he said the Safe City project has played a vital role in crime prevention and quick response. He instructed officials to further strengthen the system using artificial intelligence and make Islamabad a model of urban security.
