Firecracker Store Fire in Karnataka, India: 12 Dead, 8 Injured

KARNATAKA: A fire in a firecracker store in the Indian state of Karnataka has resulted in the tragic loss of 12 lives.

According to reports from Indian media, the incident occurred on Saturday as a shopkeeper was transferring firecrackers from a truck into the store, leading to a box catching fire.

The police have stated that the blaze quickly spread within the shop due to the presence of fireworks and firecrackers, causing extensive damage.

Upon learning of the incident, firefighters promptly arrived at the scene to combat the fire and conduct rescue operations.

As per the police, firefighters rescued 8 individuals in critical condition, including 5 who had already succumbed to their injuries. Unfortunately, additional injured individuals later passed away during treatment, bringing the total death toll to 12. The deceased individuals were residents of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu.

Media reports indicate that the fire not only engulfed the shop but also resulted in the destruction of two nearby parked vehicles.
