ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) has communicated its concerns to the President of the Pakistan Medical & Dental Council (PMDC) regarding the Medical and Dental Colleges Admission Test (MDCAT) held on September 10, 2023.

After a meeting of its central office-bearers on Wednesday, the PMA expressed reservations regarding the organization and administration of the exam. They believe that these factors led to suboptimal conditions for the candidates. Moreover, technical glitches and irregularities during the test exacerbated the pre-existing issues that demand attention.

Recognizing the seriousness and sensitivity of the situation, the PMA urged the PMDC to contemplate the re-conduct of the MDCAT exam without imposing any additional fees, aiming to ensure a fair and transparent process.

Furthermore, the PMA strongly advises that all students who took part in the initial test be granted an equal opportunity to retake the examination. Results should be determined exclusively on the basis of merit, free from any external influences.

The current circumstances have caused significant anxiety and distress among students who invested considerable effort in preparing for the exam. Consequently, the PMA requests the PMDC to take prompt action in addressing this matter and creating an equitable platform for all prospective medical students.
