Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa MDCAT Cheating Scandal: Mastermind Identified by JIT
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s Joint Investigation Team (JIT), tasked with probing the use of covert Bluetooth devices for cheating during the Medical and Dental College Entrance Test (MDCAT), has successfully identified the individual believed to be the mastermind behind the scheme. However, the JIT has refrained from disclosing the mastermind’s name.

Sources within the JIT have revealed that the alleged mastermind was previously employed by both the Public Service Commission and Federal Public Service Commission but was dismissed due to unlawful activities. Nevertheless, the accused’s identity remains undisclosed.

It has been reported by sources that the operator of this illicit network hails from Karak district. It is alleged that the accused, having previously worked within the Federal Public Service Commission, possesses intimate knowledge of the testing system’s vulnerabilities and is an adept at orchestrating cheating during exams.

The sources further claim that the accused had procured sophisticated Bluetooth devices from China and used them to entice MDCAT candidates into cheating within coaching academies.

According to reports, the accused received substantial sums of money from candidates in exchange for assistance in passing the MDCAT examination.

It’s worth noting that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Interior Department established the JIT to investigate issues related to the MD CAT test.

The JIT is led by the IG Special Branch and comprises members such as the Special Secretary of Higher Education, Special Secretary of Health, and Additional Secretary of the Home Department. Representatives from the Intelligence Bureau and Khyber Medical University are also part of the committee.

The JIT’s primary mission is to unveil the clandestine activities involved in MDCAT cheating. The committee is expected to submit its inquiry report within seven days.

Meanwhile, the Peshawar High Court has put a hold on the results of the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT).

It’s crucial to remember that the MDCAT examination, scheduled for September 10 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has become mired in controversy. During the exam, individuals were apprehended for using Bluetooth devices to cheat, prompting police intervention and the detention of numerous male and female students. The incident has sparked controversy, with allegations of question paper leaks and widespread cheating facilitated by modern technology.
