ISLAMABAD: Omar Hamid Khan has resigned from his position as the secretary of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) citing health reasons.
Reports indicate that the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan has yet to approve Khan’s resignation from the role within the electoral body.
This development arises shortly before the upcoming general elections set for February 8. Notably, it occurs amidst accusations from prominent political entities like Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), claiming an absence of a fair and equitable playing field.
