ISLAMABAD: Chairman of the Senate, Sadiq Sanjrani, has accepted the resignation of the designated Caretaker Prime Minister, Senator Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar.
Following the acceptance of Anwar Haq Kakar’s resignation by Chairman of the Senate, Sadiq Sanjrani, his Senate seat has been declared vacant and a formal notification has been issued.
Anwar Haq Kakar’s seat in the Senate has been declared vacant as of August 14, 2023.
The notification states that Anwarul Haq Kakar resigned from his seat to maintain neutrality after assuming the role of caretaker prime minister.
It should be noted that two days prior, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Opposition Leader Raja Riaz had approved the appointment of Senator Anwarul Haq Kakar as the Caretaker Prime Minister. Following this, the President of Pakistan, Dr. Arif Alvi, also endorsed the summary.
Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar had decided to resign from his Senate seat and party post in order to remain neutral in his capacity as the Caretaker Prime Minister. Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar is scheduled to take the oath as caretaker prime minister today.
