ISLAMABAD : The capital’s district administration has issued a notification announcing a two-day closure of schools, colleges, and offices on July 31 and August 1 (Monday and Tuesday).
The decision, revealed by District Magistrate Irfan Nawaz Memon, encompasses both public and private educational institutions.
Additionally, the notification specifies that all private entities, companies, markets, shops, and commercial banks will also remain closed during the designated days.
The closure comes in light of the upcoming visit of He Lifeng, Vice Premier of China and esteemed Member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party, to Pakistan.
The visit is scheduled from July 30 to August 1, and Vice Premier Lifeng, who also serves as a Special Envoy of President Xi Jinping, is slated to participate in the 10th-anniversary celebrations of the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Apart from the commemorative event, Vice Premier Lifeng is expected to hold meetings with the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan.
The district administration’s decision to suspend normal activities for two days aims to ensure smooth operations during the high-profile visit and facilitate security arrangements. Citizens are advised to plan their affairs accordingly to avoid inconvenience during the closure period.
