ISLAMABAD: Authorities in Islamabad have issued an order to enforce the ban on rickshaw entry into the federal capital. To ensure smooth traffic flow, protect citizens from accidents, and uphold road safety rules, teams have been formed under the guidance of Capital City Police Officer Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan.
These teams are taking legal action against rickshaws, resulting in over 400 challan tickets being issued to rickshaw drivers and more than 130 rickshaws being impounded in various police stations within a week.
The Chief Traffic Officer of Islamabad has instructed Zonal DSPs to compile daily reports on rickshaws, and special squads have been deployed on major highways such as the Expressway, IJP Road, Murree Road, Seventh Avenue, and Ninth Avenue.
In order to raise awareness about road safety, flags have been put up on rickshaws, and the education wing is providing daily awareness campaigns to the public. Additionally, Islam Capital Police Radio FM 92.4 has organized a special broadcast dedicated to road safety.
