LAHORE:  Former President Asif Ali Zardari held a press conference , accompanied by Gohar Ejaz, the leader of the All Pakistan Textile Mills Association (APTMA). Addressing the gathering, Zardari firmly stated, “I have never cheated anyone in the past, and I have no intentions of deceiving the Muslim League-N either.”

During the conference, Zardari expressed his belief that Pakistan should focus on exporting textiles, stating, “Although uncertain if the IMF will provide financial aid, I believe our textile industry holds the potential to generate around $2 billion in revenue.”

Zardari emphasized his reliance on his own ideas and business policies to generate income. Responding to allegations made by an Indian individual claiming Zardari’s involvement in a $100 billion scam, the former president dismissed the accusations as baseless.

Turning his attention to the education system, Zardari emphasized the need for reform to ensure the emergence of talented young individuals. He highlighted the importance of embracing technological advancements by suggesting the adoption of computer-based examinations. Zardari also mentioned the positive prospects for Pakistan’s development following the recent improvement in relations between Saudi Arabia and Iran, stressing the importance of collaboration in advancing the country’s interests.

Furthermore, Zardari proposed a strategy to boost Pakistan’s economy by promoting industrial growth. He suggested utilizing the barren land in Sindh to establish more industries, aiming to stimulate economic progress.

In an attempt to dispel misconceptions about Pakistan’s financial status, Zardari expressed his belief that the country is rich, dismissing claims to the contrary as foolish. He voiced his concerns about the outflow of investment from Pakistan due to insecurity and expressed his willingness to engage in discussions and sign an economic agreement to address these issues. Zardari clarified that his intentions were not to benefit solely his family and a select few political figures.

Zardari also made reference to a recent interaction with a cricketer, where he discussed the concept of a contract-based economy. He indicated his readiness to explore this economic model and brushed off any attempts to discredit him, stating that such tactics would not deter him.

When questioned about political matters, Zardari redirected the conversation to focus on the textile industry and invited individuals to engage in political discussions at Bilawal House.

The former president concluded by reiterating his commitment to honesty and integrity, assuring that he would remain faithful to his principles and not deceive the Muslim League-N.
