Islamabad: President Dr. Arif Alvi is set to continue his presidency beyond his term’s completion on September 9, 2023, until the election of a new president.
The proposal to hold general elections either in the first week of October or at the end of September is currently being deliberated.
Ongoing consultations are taking place, as the National Assembly was dissolved four to five days earlier than originally scheduled on August 13. Simultaneously, efforts to devise a strategy for the return of former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif have gained momentum, with necessary legal documentation being expedited to facilitate the process.
