ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast increased monsoon activity in many parts of the country from the evening of July 5, which may continue till July 10 in most areas.
According to the Met Office, moist currents are continuously entering the country, and a westerly wave is also expected to reach upper parts by July 6. As a result, widespread rainfall and thunderstorms are expected across several regions.
Areas Likely to be Affected:

Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan
Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in areas including Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Bagh, Kotli, Mirpur, Swat, Abbottabad, Peshawar, and Chitral from July 5 to 10, with occasional breaks. -
Punjab/Islamabad
Rain and thunderstorms with heavy falls are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Jhelum, Lahore, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Gujrat, and other areas from July 5 to 10. In South Punjab, including Bahawalpur, Multan, Layyah, and D.G. Khan, rain is expected from July 6 to 8. -
Balochistan
Rain with isolated heavy falls is expected in parts of northeastern and southern Balochistan—such as Zhob, Barkhan, Kohlu, and Khuzdar—from July 3 evening to July 8. -
Sindh
Light to moderate rain is likely in Karachi, Hyderabad, Larkana, Sukkur, and other parts between July 3 and July 8. Some isolated heavy showers may also occur.

Alerts and Warnings:

Flash floods are possible in local streams of Murree, Swat, Abbottabad, and other hilly areas of KP and north Punjab.

Urban flooding may occur in cities like Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Faisalabad from July 6 to 8.

Landslides could occur in hilly areas of KP, GB, and Kashmir.

Strong winds and lightning may damage weak structures, billboards, and power lines.

Farmers and tourists are advised to stay informed about weather changes and avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rains.
The PMD has urged all authorities to stay alert and take precautionary measures to prevent any untoward incidents.
