LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said there is a need to raise awareness about the importance of a cycling culture in cities.
In her message on World Bicycle Day, CM Maryam Nawaz said that the bicycle is one of the best modes of transport for health and environmental protection. “Even today, many people in Europe use bicycles for daily travel. If they can do it, why can’t we?” she added.
She said adopting bicycles can improve public health and help protect the natural environment. “Bicycles not only save fuel but also help reduce pollution and disease,” she said.
The Chief Minister stressed the need to promote cycling among school and college students. “Young people should be encouraged to use bicycles, and they must be informed about the many benefits of cycling,” she said.

Maryam Nawaz added that using bicycles should be a priority for a healthy lifestyle. She also mentioned that the United Nations has recognized bicycles as an affordable and eco-friendly means of transport since 2018. She said efforts are being made to promote a cycling culture for a healthier and safer environment.
