Government cancels transport staff holidays to combat Eid fare overcharging

To tackle concerns about inflated transport fares during the upcoming Eid al-Adha holidays, the Sindh government has taken a firm stand. All officers and staff of various provincial and regional transport authorities will have their holidays canceled, ensuring they remain on duty to address public complaints swiftly.

The government has stated that if the public does not receive a timely response from field officers, they can directly contact the Deputy Secretary Transport on mobile number 0346-2522641.

Senior Minister of Sindh, Sharjeel Inam Memon, said that all concerned officers will be on duty during the Eid holidays to quickly resolve complaints about extra fares.

He added that millions of citizens travel during Eid, and it is the government’s duty to prioritize their convenience. He explained that the holidays of relevant officers and staff have been canceled to ensure the public does not face any overcharging for transport.

Sharjeel Inam Memon stressed that no one will be allowed to take advantage of the public’s need during Eid. He warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found charging extra fares in public transport.

The provincial minister urged the public not to pay more than the government-set fares and to immediately inform officers about anyone charging extra.
