PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government plans to set up picnic areas at dam sites to encourage tourism, as per the media report.
According to the details, Habibullah Arif, Director General of the Tourism and Culture Authority, said picnic spots will be developed at Naryab Dam in Hangu, Kundal Dam in Swabi, and Chatri Dam in Haripur.
He explained that this is part of a plan to improve tourism facilities and make visits more enjoyable. The government aims to provide tourists with necessary amenities.
“We are creating picnic areas at dams in KP so visitors can enjoy these places comfortably,” Arif said. The spots will have walking paths, small shops, restrooms, and other facilities for visitors.
In other news, the KP Education Department has stopped government schools from organizing field trips or picnics. A notice from the Elementary and Secondary Education Department told all government schools to avoid taking students on such outings.

Separately, KP announced plans to install emergency alert sirens in 29 districts to protect people from possible aerial threats due to recent tensions with India.
A report stated, “The sirens will be placed in high-risk areas to cover more people. They will provide timely warnings if there is an aerial threat.”
According to the Directorate of Civil Defence KP, people should seek shelter immediately if they hear a siren and avoid going outside, ensuring the safety of children, women, and the elderly. District authorities have been asked to install and maintain the sirens promptly.
