KARACHI: The KPT Bridge in Karachi’s Qayyumabad area will be closed for one month starting tonight for repairs, according to Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab.
According to the media reports, the section of the bridge connecting Qayyumabad to Korangi Road and Baloch Colony Expressway will be affected.
Mayor Wahab said the road beneath the bridge can be used as an alternative route. A traffic management plan has been prepared with the traffic police, and the public is requested to cooperate.
Reports earlier indicated that some interchanges on Karachi’s major roads, including the KPT Interchange, are showing signs of damage.
The KPT Bridge, which connects Baloch Colony to Defence Phase One and Korangi, sees thousands of vehicles daily. Parts of the bridge have sunk inward, and a supporting pillar underneath has separated, with exposed steel rods.
