KARACHI: The KPT Bridge in Karachi’s Qayyumabad area will be closed for one month starting tonight for repairs, according to Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab.

Mayor Wahab said the road beneath the bridge can be used as an alternative route. A traffic management plan has been prepared with the traffic police, and the public is requested to cooperate.

Reports earlier indicated that some interchanges on Karachi’s major roads, including the KPT Interchange, are showing signs of damage.

The KPT Bridge, which connects Baloch Colony to Defence Phase One and Korangi, sees thousands of vehicles daily. Parts of the bridge have sunk inward, and a supporting pillar underneath has separated, with exposed steel rods.

Residents have expressed concern and urged the Sindh government to take immediate steps to repair the bridge to prevent any incidents.

In other news, a traffic plan was issued earlier for PSL 10 matches in the city. Authorities informed citizens about the plan to help avoid inconvenience.

According to the traffic plan, heavy and commercial vehicles were not allowed from Millennium to New Town Stadium Signal up to Hassan Square. Citizens were also prohibited from parking cars or motorcycles on the main road or service road.
