KARACHI : The government of Sindh, a southeastern province of Pakistan, has announced a public holiday for all educational institutions on April 18 in observance of Shab-e-Qadar.
This decision was made in accordance with the Steering Committee Meeting of the School Education and Literacy Department, Government of Sindh, held on February 22, 2022. All government and private educational institutions in the province will remain closed on Tuesday 18th April 2023.
Shab-e-Qadr is considered to be the most sacred night of the Holy Month of Ramadan, and is observed throughout the country with a lot of reverence and humility. It is believed to be equal to praying for 1000 months, and Muslims observe this night with congregational prayers in mosques. Special prayers and religious discussions are held as people seek mercy and blessings of Allah SWT.
This announcement follows the federal government’s earlier announcement of a five-day holiday on the occasion of Eid ul Fit, starting on April 21. The decision to grant holidays on these important religious occasions reflects the government’s commitment to religious diversity and inclusivity.
