ISLAMABAD: Female teachers in Islamabad’s government schools and colleges have said that the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has not paid them for exam and paper marking work they did over the last four years.
They shared their concerns with a private newspaper, explaining that even though the FDE promised to pay them, they have not received the small amount of Rs150 per day for their efforts.
The teachers, who work on primary and middle school exams organized by the FDE, said they are facing money problems. Many have had to use their own cash to cover extra costs.
As per the newspaper report, they have not been paid since 2020 for tasks like collecting papers, supervising exams, and marking them. One teacher from IMCB I-8/3 said he spent Rs3,000 daily on a taxi to move exam materials, paying this for 15 days each year without any help from the FDE.

The teachers pointed out that Rs150 per day is too little to cover basic needs like food, especially with prices going up. They also have to buy things like sealing wax, thread, and cloth for packing papers themselves. One teacher said she marked papers for class VIII exams but got no payment at all.
The teachers have complained many times, but the FDE’s Academic Cell has not fixed the problem. They feel ignored by officials who make promises but do not follow through.
The teachers have asked Education Secretary Mohyuddin Ahmzd Wani to step in and make sure they get the money they are owed. One teacher said, “We want fairness. If the government wants us to do our jobs well, it should at least pay us what we earned.”
Another teacher added that the long wait for payment, along with the low amount offered, shows a lack of care for their work. She said that with prices so high, Rs150 per day is not enough and feels unfair.
