ISLAMABAD: A police officer was arrested and a case was filed under the PECA Act for posting inappropriate content about President Asif Zardari on social media.
As per the private tv channel report, the officer, Station Investigation Officer (SIO) Abrar Shah from Ibrahim Hyderi in Karachi, faced legal action after his post against President Asif Zardari. Sukhan Police registered the case under the PECA Act and arrested him.
Abrar Shah made the post on Facebook on April 2, using inappropriate words about President Asif Zardari.
The TV report said that the case was filed based on a complaint by Duty Officer Yaqoob at Sukhan Police Station. Yaqoob stated that he was reading comments on his mobile phone when, at 8:40 PM, he saw Abrar Shah’s comment written in English
The complaint stated that Abrar Shah referred to a person in an important position and wrote inappropriate content, which hurt the feelings of Yaqoob and other citizens.

The case mentioned that this act falls under Section 504 PPC 21 of the PECA Act. After registering the case, the investigation was handed over to another officer.
Sukhan Police said that Abrar Shah was arrested under the law and presented in court. The local court granted him bail, and he is now continuing work on the case as an investigation officer.
Earlier, President Asif Zardari had tested positive for the coronavirus. Dr. Asim Hussain confirmed the president’s positive test result.
Dr. Asim Hussain spoke to a private TV channel and said that President Asif Zardari’s coronavirus test came back positive. He added that the president has been placed in isolation and is being treated by experts in infectious diseases.
Dr. Hussain also said that all meetings with the president are banned, tests have been conducted, and he is under full monitoring.
