KARACHI: The Sindh government has officially taken over the operational control of the Green Line and Orange Line bus services.
As per the reports, a ceremony was held at the Green Line and Orange Line Bus Services Operational Command and Control Center in Garden, Karachi, to hand over the operational control to Sindh. CEO of PIDCL Waseem Bajwa handed over the control to Secretary Transport Asad Zaman.
The Managing Director of Sindh Mass Transit Authority Kamal Dayo, along with officials from Orange Line and Green Line BRT, also attended the event.
During the ceremony, Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon spoke and said that transferring the Green Line and Orange Line to the Sindh government is an important step toward organizing the public transport network.
The Sindh government is committed to improving and sustaining the bus services to provide better travel facilities to citizens. He added that they will work to enhance the performance of the bus services through the use of modern technology and regular maintenance.

Sharjeel Memon further said that an integrated and efficient urban transit system is being developed for Karachi city. Work is ongoing to connect both BRT lines with other public transport systems.
It may be noted that last year, it was reported that the federal government would hand over the Green Line bus service project to the Sindh government.
The federal government decided to transfer the Green Line bus service project to the Sindh government, and the Sindh government completed preparations to take over its operations.
In this regard, a meeting was held under the chairmanship of Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon to review the operations of the Green Line bus service.
It should be remembered that the Green Line Bus Rapid Transit service in Karachi was started in January 2022, and hundreds of citizens travel daily on this modern bus service.
