RAWALPINDI: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has revealed plans to fix up Murree’s historic Mall Road. She wants to make the town a popular tourist spot again, like it was 167 years ago.

The CM said the work will be done in one year. This is part of the Murree Tourism Development Plan started by PML-N President Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.

As per report, the Walled City Authority Lahore will handle the project. They will work with experts, locals, and the administration. The cost is Rs550 million. The goal is to make Murree a top tourism spot in Pakistan and Punjab, the CM explained.

The CM put Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb in charge of the steering committee for the project. She said they will fix old footpaths, keep the town clean, and add more facilities for visitors.

The project will also repair shops and buildings on Mall Road to look like they used to. Advertisement boards will all match, and buildings will have old-style electric lights, the CM added.

A public square called Crossroads will be built to bring back Murree’s historic feel. Modern washrooms will also be added for tourists and residents.
