KARACHI: Pakistan Railways has announced the restoration of passenger trains 43 Up and 44 Down Shah Hussain Express, which were suspended due to the 2022 floods.
Railway officials have issued a notification stating that the train service will resume on February 25, 2025.
The train will operate between Karachi Cantt and Lahore, passing through Faisalabad via the Chord Main Line. Booking for the train will also begin soon.
Shah Hussain Express will depart from Karachi at 7:30 PM and arrive in Lahore the next day at 2:15 PM. Similarly, it will leave Lahore at 7:00 PM and reach Karachi the next day at 2:05 PM. The train will travel via Lodhran to Khanewal instead of Multan.

The train will consist of 16 coaches, including 10 economy class, 2 AC business, 2 AC standard, one power van, and one brake van.
The decision to restore Shah Hussain Express was approved by the Chief Operating Superintendent, and all relevant officials have been given necessary instructions.
In other news, with the support of Pakistan Railways, the Sindh government has launched the Thar Desert Train Safari from Karachi.
The first train in this series departed from Cantt Station for Tharparkar. The train will travel through Hyderabad, Mirpur Khas, and Chhor to reach Parchi Ji Veri.
