ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved the appointment of two ambassadors abroad on the recommendation of Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, while Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch has been appointed as the ambassador to France.
According to media reports, sources in the Foreign Office said that Marghoob Saleem Butt will be Pakistan’s new ambassador to Switzerland. Marghoob Saleem Butt is currently serving as Additional Secretary for SCO in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In addition, Amir Shaukat has been approved for appointment as the ambassador to Egypt. Amir Shaukat is currently serving as Pakistan’s ambassador to Switzerland.
The Foreign Office sent a summary of the appointments to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif last month, and France has also approved the newly nominated ambassador at the diplomatic level.

Mumtaz Zahra Baloch will be Pakistan’s new ambassador to France. Mumtaz Zahra Baloch is currently serving as the Foreign Office Spokesperson.
On the other hand, the Foreign Office has confirmed the death of a Pakistani national in a boat capsizing incident in Greece.
The Foreign Office spokesperson stated that, according to initial reports, a boat capsized yesterday south of the Greek island of Crete, in which one Pakistani has been confirmed dead, while 47 people were rescued.

As per the Foreign Office spokesperson, at this stage, the number of other dead or missing Pakistani nationals cannot be confirmed.
The Pakistani Embassy in Athens is in contact with the Hellenic Coast Guard and the Chania Coast Guard. Both the Hellenic Coast Guard and the Chania Coast Guard are engaged in search and rescue operations.
