ISLAMABAD: The Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) is likely to announce the winter vacation schedule 2024 for schools and colleges in Islamabad in the next few weeks.

As per report, Federal Directorate of Education usually holds one-week vacations during extremely cold weather.

This year, due to the delay in the usual cold weather, it is likely that the winter vacations will be from December 21 to December 29, with schools reopening on December 30.

It is expected that the Federal Directorate of Education will review the school teaching hours after the winter vacations.

On the other hand, the Department of Schools Education in Punjab province is also expected to announce the winter vacations soon. As per the general tradition, schools remain closed for two weeks in December due to severe weather conditions in Punjab.

This year winter vacations in Punjab are likely to begin on December 21, with schools set to reopen on January 1. However, the final decision will depend on the prevailing weather conditions.

Punjab often experiences fog and a drop in temperature of 7 to 8 degrees Celsius during December, making it difficult for students to attend classes.

Last year, the provincial government initially announced holidays from December 18 to December 31 but later extended them until January 9, 2024.
