RAWALPINDI: In Rawalpindi, two police encounters took place, resulting in the tragic martyrdom of Dolphin Force personnel, and two suspects were killed.
A member of the Dolphin Force youth was martyred, while a constable and a passer-by were injured due to firing by unknown car riders on Murree Road. The assailants abandoned the vehicle and fled.
According to sources, at 10 o’clock on Monday night near Taxila Stand of Police Station Cantt, the Dolphin Force signaled to stop a suspicious vehicle, but the riders sped away. Constable Ismail Rauf and Constable Asim of the Dolphin Force chased them on their motorcycles. When the white car reached Qasr Shireen on Murree Road, the Dolphin team flagged it down.
Meanwhile, the occupants of the car opened fire, resulting in the martyrdom of Constable Ismail Rauf, while Constable Asim and a passer-by named Abdullah were injured.
According to sources, the four suspects in the car abandoned their vehicle in Bhabra Bazar, stole two motorcycles, and escaped.
Meanwhile, 2 suspects were killed in an alleged police encounter in Rawat police station area. According to the spokesperson of Rawalpindi Police, Rawat Police signaled the suspicious motorcyclists to stop. When the suspects started firing at the police, two of them were killed by their own accomplices during the exchange of fire.
Weapons and a used motorcycle were recovered from the suspects. The identities of the slain suspects were being confirmed.
As usual, the spokesman did not reveal the place and time of the incident, and the identities of the deceased suspects were not disclosed until late at night.
