RAWALPINDI: The Provincial Minister for Transport, Bilal Akbar Khan, announced plans for the construction of parking plazas in Murree to address traffic and parking concerns.
He made this statement while speaking to the media during his visit to Murree on Saturday. The minister’s visit was part of the ‘Murree expansion plan,’ directed by Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
During the visit, the minister assessed potential locations for parking facilities and discussed options for constructing parking plazas.
He also inspected Murree’s General Bus Stand and engaged in discussions with transporters regarding traffic issues and potential solutions. The minister stated that the installation of parking lots would alleviate congestion.
Furthermore, the Punjab government is committed to enhancing tourist facilities and ensuring high-quality travel experiences in Murree. The appointment of a Secretary Transport Authority for Murree is forthcoming, along with stringent measures against illegal bus stands in the area.
The minister was briefed on traffic and parking challenges by DC Agha Zaheer Abbas Shirazi, with Secretary Transport Punjab, Ahmed Javed Qazi, and AC Captain (r) Abdul Wahab Khan also in attendance.
