LAHORE: The Lahore Waste Management Company (LWMC) has unveiled its extensive cleaning strategy for Eid ul Fitr 2024, scheduled from April 9 to 12.
This special cleaning initiative will operate around the clock, involving more than 10,000 workers and over 1,200 operational vehicles.
Babar Sahib Din, the CEO of LWMC, mentioned that the special cleaning drive, launched on Chand Raat, will persist until the second day of Eid.
The plan encompasses special cleaning and sanitation measures for over 1,500 mosques and Eidgahs, as well as the upkeep of 250 small and large graveyards within the city.
Furthermore, 149 major commercial markets will undergo zero waste efforts on Chand Raat, while 831 kilometers of roads will receive mechanical sweeping.
Umar Chaudhary, spokesperson for LWMC, noted that water will be sprinkled around mosques, Eidgahs, and paths leading to graveyards.
The cleaning of more than 47 Iftar daster-khawans, adorned for Ramadan, is currently underway.
LWMC teams have been deployed at Taraweeh venues, Jamia Masjids, and potential routes across all districts.
During Eid, complaints regarding solid waste will be addressed every 30 minutes, with concerns from commercial markets being resolved within 10 minutes.
