ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) is implementing initiatives to foster a healthier environment for residents.
In this regard, it has been decided to construct bicycle lanes along the highways in different sectors and areas of Islamabad in order to promote the bicycle culture in the city by implementing the instructions of the CDA chairman.
Under the Bicycle Lab Project (BLP) initiated by the Capital Development Authority (CDA), a 374-kilometer cycling track will be developed across different sectors and areas of Islamabad within an 18-month period, with an estimated cost of Rs2.4 billion.
The proposed cycling track will be integrated into highways linked to the Purple Line Metro Bus project, including Khayaban Iqbal, Sector G-6, G-7, G-8, Green Double Lane, Jinnah Avenue, and Red Double Line, facilitating metro bus passengers who wish to utilize the cycling track.
Furthermore, every sector in Islamabad will be interconnected with a cycling track as part of this project. Additionally, 150 parking stands will be installed under the Bicycle Lab Project (BLP), allowing citizens to access bike rental services affordably. The project will also ensure proper lighting, security, and other essential amenities to enhance citizen convenience.
