RAWALPINDI: Security forces in Sambaza Sector, Zhob district, near the Pakistan-Afghan border in Balochistan, reported on Monday that they had killed seven terrorists, according to the military’s media wing.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated that the exchange of fire occurred during an intelligence-based operation.
The ISPR mentioned that the terrorists, who were actively involved in terrorist activities against security forces and the killing of innocent civilians, were effectively surrounded and engaged by own troops.
Consequently, seven terrorists were killed, and arms, ammunition, and explosives were recovered from them.
The media wing informed that a sanitization operation was underway to eliminate any other terrorists present in the area. It emphasized the determination of Pakistan’s security forces to eradicate the menace of terrorism.
In 2023, Pakistan recorded 1,524 violence-related fatalities and 1,463 injuries in 789 terror attacks and counter-terror operations.
The Annual Security Report released by the Centre for Research and Security Studies (CRSS) last month reported nearly 1,000 fatalities among civilians and security forces personnel.
The overall fatalities, including those of outlaws, reached a six-year high, surpassing the 2018 level and marking the highest since 2017.
