RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir emphasized on Monday that the adversaries of Pakistan were determined to exploit religious, ethnic, and political susceptibilities in the country.

According to a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), General Munir made these observations during his address at a ceremony hosted at Christ Church in Rawalpindi as part of the Christmas celebrations.

The COAS received a warm reception from the congregation and was appreciated for participating in the festive occasion. General Munir extended his greetings for a Merry Christmas to the entire Christian community within Pakistan.

ISPR conveyed that the army chief displayed profound respect for the religious communities and highlighted the significance of fostering increased interfaith harmony in society, aligning with the true vision of a unified and progressive Pakistan as envisioned by Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah.

Stressing the teachings of Islam centered on peace, friendship, and the promotion of interfaith harmony, General Munir emphasized the current imperative for such unity.

He underscored the importance of cultivating informed perspectives, truth, and knowledge-based opinions on national matters, rather than succumbing to rhetoric and propaganda, to effectively address complex challenges and issues.

General Munir reiterated, “Adversaries of Pakistan are committed to exploiting divisions based on religious, ethnic, and political lines. Our strength lies in standing together as a unified and resolute nation.”

Additionally, while commemorating Jinnah’s 147th birthday, the COAS paid tribute to the great leader’s vision and leadership. He referenced Jinnah’s historic speech on August 11, 1947, to the Constituent Assembly, quoting, “You are free. You are free to go to your temples. You are free to go to your mosques or to any other places of worship in this State of Pakistan.”
