TURBAT: Former caretaker Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti has recently joined the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) shortly after stepping down from his position, a mandatory move in preparation for his participation in upcoming elections.
Addressing a gathering of PPP workers in Turbat, Bugti revealed his decision to align with the party, citing the encouragement and direction from respected leader Asif Ali Zardari during his visit to Turbat. He expressed his enthusiasm for contesting the general elections with the backing of the PPP and shared his hopes for the restoration of peace in Balochistan under Zardari’s leadership.
The general elections are scheduled for February 8, 2024, following concerns over potential delays. However, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has issued the polling schedule as directed by the Supreme Court, alleviating some apprehensions on the matter.
Bugti also appealed to Zardari to consider establishing a modern hospital in Turbat, akin to the one in Sukkur, aiming to enhance healthcare services for the local populace. He pledged to transform the PPP into a progressive force under Zardari’s guidance and highlighted the party’s role in challenging negative narratives surrounding Pakistan.
Prior to joining the PPP, Bugti had affiliations with the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP).
